RTD/ Thermocouples Calibration Services (-200 to 1200°C)

Temperature sensors are widely used in industry for measurement and controlling the process and production quality checks. Depending on the temperature range and required precision either thermocouples or RTD sensors are selected.

A thermocouple is a temperature-sensing device made up of two different types of metals that are joined at one end. When the junction of the two metals is heated or cooled, it produces a voltage that can be correlated to temperature. The voltage generated depends on the types of metals used and the difference in temperature between the junction and the open ends of the thermocouple wires. This property makes thermocouples highly effective for measuring temperatures across a broad range. Thermocouples are available in various type of configuration like B, E, K, J, T, R, S, N type etc.

An RTD sensor (Resistance Temperature Detector) is a temperature-sensing device that operates based on the principle that the electrical resistance of a metal changes with temperature. Resistance of metal to the electricity flow increases with rise in temperature. Similarly, as the temperature of the RTD resistance element increases, the electrical resistance, measured in ohms (Ω), increases. RTD elements are commonly specified according to their resistance in ohms at zero degrees Celsius. The most common RTD specification is 100 Ω, which means that at 0°C the RTD element should demonstrate 100 Ω resistances. RTD sensors are formed in 2, 3 and 4 wire configuration. 4 wire configurations is precise and accurate over 3 wires.
